The
road of many years' experience, trodden by a man who
sees wine-making as an art, lies behind this superb
wine, bearing the name of the founder of Viña Morandé.
House
of Morandé Reserve is a wine prepared with grapes from
the Maipo, a valley protected by high walls, where there
is no breath of wind and the sun stands still.
With
nights open to the deep sky, without stars and full
moons.
With naked, translucent dawnings, heavy with frost.
Its
minerals - lime, iron, copper and slate - paint its
wines the colour of purple blood and lend sweetness
and strength to its musts, with flavours of lavender,
chocolate, violets and mint. It lies in casks of French
Oak and matures patiently in dark bottles. Perfectly balanced, House of Morandé is a great
wine, the learned wine of Viña MorandéAn event to be celebrated.
HOUSE OF MORANDÉ CABERNET SAUVIGNON 1997
House of Morandé is a combination of varieties,
of which 80% corresponds to Cabernet Sauvignon from two estates
in the Maipo Valley. It also contains 20% of Merlot from Casablanca
Valley and "two barrels" of Carignan from Cauquenes, added
to "sprinkle pepper on the meat", in other words, to add a
dash of freshness to the whole.
There is an interesting expression of the Cabernet,
which shows nuances of berries, pepper and coffee, while it
develops in the mouth with a perfect balance of flavours,
gliding over the palate, displaying its medium, elegant body.
The end is spicy and the hints of coffee gently recur, inviting
one to another glass.
HOUSE OF MORANDÉ CABERNET SAUVIGNON 1999
House of Morandé gives us a glimpse
of the result of that mix of experience, talent and innovation with
which those responsible are playing, and also allows us to prove
yet again the potential of the Maipo Valley for producing great
wines.
